Fox Days of Summer |
|
Whoo, boy, is it hot! The babies from Spring are growing up fast. GCWS received many baby foxes this year, some in whole litters. Of course we also received owls, raccoons, songbirds and many other animals. Just recently, the fawns have started to come in. In addition to caring for the Spring babies, volunteers are busy making preparations for the arrival of squirrels. Although we get a few baby squirrels year-round, the largest influx of squirrels, including flying squirrels, will occur in late Summer.
Speaking of foxes, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) voted to ban fox penning in Florida. Please read more about it at the HSUS website and if you get a chance, let the FWC know how much you support their decision.
